ESA As The Organizer of ECUTION 2022
English Cultural Exhibition (ECUTION) is an event to welcoming new students of English literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Brawijaya University which is held every year by LLD (Language and Literature Department) English Students Association. This activity was held on 6 November 2022 & 3 December 2022 in the hall of building B of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences and UBTV. There are 4 several events such as Technical Meeting, Script Writing Workshop, Pre-Ecution, and Ecution which aim to introduce the campus environment and get to know each other’s classmates well. The main event is Ecution which features drama performances from 10 student groups with the theme “Folklore in the Modern Era”. Folklore itself can be interpreted as fairy tales, beliefs, and traditional arts. Our goal in choosing this theme is that there is hope that freshman students of the English Literature study program at the University of Brawijaya batch 2022 will be able to gain new knowledge to learn and be able to introduce freshmen to one of subjects in English Literature namely folklore and drama or theater which they will learn later. Each group presented a stunning performance because of their hardwork and also the result of practicing for about 4 months with each group’s advisor.

During the 4 months of preparation for the drama, there were many benefits that could be drawn from the event for new students and the committee. For students, they can improve good teamwork and get new experiences for learning acting, vocals, and so on. This is a good thing because they also have the provision to study one of the courses in English literature which is a drama course. With experience in presenting a drama, of course they already know the basics of drama and how to prepare drama properly and correctly. The benefits of this event for the committee are none other than increasing professionalism, leadership, and etc [SPEL FCS/aaz].
