FCS UB Held the E-vote for the Student Association Chairperson

Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held the Election of Chairperson of the Student Association with the e-vote system on Thursday (11/14/2019). The election was prepared by the representative students of each Study Program who work with the Management of Information Systems, Infrastructure of Information Technology, and Public Relations (PSIK) Unit FCS UB.

This democracy party was held for the first time at FCS UB and participated by eight Study Program Student Association, namely Study Program of English, Japanese Literature, Chinese Literature, French Language and Literature, Indonesian Language and Literature Education, English Language Education, Japanese Language Education, and Fine Arts.

This innovation was welcomed by FCS UB students. It could be seen that students were very enthusiastic to use their voting rights. The election was open from 9 a.m to 4 p.m, with a total of 1.159 votes. This number increased from the previous year.

Based on the statement of M. Rizfaldo Akbar, Chairperson of the Student Representative Council FCS UB as well as the Coordinator of the Election, this innovation was based on his anxiety to see every set of scrambling places for the election. Some Study Programs have less suitable places. Then, he initiated to hold the election with the e-vote system.

According to him, this breakthrough could be a reference for other faculties that have many Study Programs so that they could conduct the election of the chairperson of the student association. Also, he conveyed the purpose of holding the election simultaneously to enliven the democracy party at the level of Study Program in a day.

“This is the first time there is a simultaneous selection of chairpersons of the student associations with some number of associations so that we can enliven democracy,” he said.

The President of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of FCS UB, Hafiz Akbar, appreciated the success of this innovation achievement. “The impression was exciting, it was all in one, gathered in the election, more visible, and felt the democratic party. So, there will be two democratic parties from the Election of Chairperson of the Student Association simultaneously and the Election of Student’s Representatives FCS UB,” said Hafiz Akbar. Alson, Hafiz expressed his hope that this innovation will continue to be carried forward and continue to be developed.

Although this was still the first time, this activity had been carried out smoothly. With a total of eight computers for e-vote, there were no server problems. So, the event could run well according to the committee’s expectations. (DT/MSH/Humas FIB)
