The English Literature Student Association (ESA) Faculty of Cultural Studies Brawijaya University had held an annual event, namely ‘ECUTION’ (English Cultural Exhibition) with the theme “90s Movie”, on Saturday (11/28/2020). This event was previously held offline, but due to the Covid-19 outbreak, offline drama performances were no longer possible. As a result, this year’s ECUTION concept transformed into radio drama. Vaza Zuvarullutvan served as moderator for the event, which also featured Ulwan Fakhri Noviadhista as a speaker. A total of 155 freshmen from the 2020 English Literature Study Program attended this event.
Drama and Exhibition are the two main agendas for this event. The first priority on ECUTION 2020’s agenda is to hold a radio drama competition for new students. The radio drama competition serves as an introduction to new students as well as an initial provision for English Literature study program students. This will provide students an introduction to the drama classes they will be taking in the next semester as well as a chance to practice their English in a literary performance. The second agenda is Exhibition, which takes the form of performances such as MUSICS FIB’s band and FOCS Dance Crew’s modern dance performances.
In this event, it is hoped that students of the English literature study program can get to know and discover their potential. Students are also expected to have an understanding of the culture and arts of drama in regard to their English literature studies. So that it can be utilized as a lesson that new students can easily accept. In English literature, this action is also expected to strengthen the relationship between generations.
