The Community Service Team of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a workshop at the Lentera Pengharapan Christian Elementary School (SD.Kr. YBPK) Ngaglik, Malang. The activities are carried out by providing training and mentoring for teachers to increase students’ literacy levels in schools. The goals are helping students’ increase their academic achievement and instilling a love for reading from an early age through the provision of training, mentoring, and providing books for students.
Reporting from the Warta FIB page, the literacy activities were carried out on several agendas. The first sharing session was held online on Tuesday (17/8/2021), then continued in the second stage on Tuesday (5/10/2021) to monitor the progress achieved by each class in the Ngaglik YBPK SDKr.
One of the challenges faced in implementing the School Literacy Movement (GLS) was completing the bill. Quoted from the FIB news, the fees were quite challenging for the Ngaglik YBPK SDKr students, so it took time to settle accounts. Still, regardless of the obstacles faced, procurement This activity makes students accustomed to literacy activities and is seen as very helpful for teachers in delivering teaching materials and increasing students’ enthusiasm for reading.
