On September 17th, 2021, both representatives from each university, Isti Purwaningtyas, M.Pd. as the Head of English Literature Study Program in Brawijaya University and Indah Wahyuningsih, M.A as the Head of the Department of English Literature at the University of Jember had agreed to hold a cooperation program in the form of the Credit Transfer Student Exchange Program. Both of these two universities are state universities located in East Java, where Brawijaya University is based in Malang City and Jember University is in Jember Regency. The Student Exchange Program started on August 23rd, 2021, and ended on January 7th, 2022. The Student Exchange activity between Brawijaya University and Jember University is held without any fees. This Student Exchange activity is not only aimed at building good relations between the two universities, but also as an opportunity for students from the two universities to experience a different atmosphere and learning program from what they have experienced at their campus. It is hoped that from this program, the participants can gain new knowledge and learning experiences at the destination university. Apart from that, students’ insight about cross-cultural diversity that can be found in various universities across Indonesia can be further developed.

The English Literature Study Program at Brawijaya University itself has sent ten delegates as participants of the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) Student Exchange and has been well received in the English Literature Department Program of the University of Jember. The participants were dominated by students from the 2019 class who were taking semester 5, one of the 2017 class and one of the 2020 class. The most widely chosen course was Critical Theories, with one student choosing Phonetics and Phonology. Exchange students were accepted into the courses and classes of their choice and received lectures from experienced and competent educators in their fields. The output of this program is that Exchange Students can experience the lectures and courses that are different or slightly similar to their University of origin, but with methods and learning atmosphere under the destination campus. As previously mentioned, at the end of this program, all the exchange students’ results of the academic assessment during their studies at the University of Jember can be transferred to their academic report system in Brawijaya University.
