Open House (OH) Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) was held on Sunday (10/27/2019). The event was the last series of Freshmen Orientation FCS UB which had been going on since August 2019. This event was held to introduce the Student Activity Unit (SAU) in FCS UB to freshmen.
Various SAU representatives received a standing ovation from freshmen. Among them was the performance of FDC, Mata Pena, and Music. They showed their skills off so they could attract new students to join. It was by the purpose of organizing OH. Freshmen were directed to join SAUs they were interested in.
The Chairperson of Freshmen Orientation FCS UB, Ade Vanreza, a student of the Anthropology Study Program 2017, hoped that through this event, new students would not hesitate to register for SAU. “Through OH, freshmen are informed to be interested, so they will have a willingness to join,” he stated.
Like the previous year, OH was held in Samanta Krida Building UB. The event was opened with dancers from nine Student Association Study Programs’ representatives, by singing the song from the idol group JKT48, then the introduction of representatives of each SAU and community in FCS UB. In the middle of the event, freshmen were invited to get around the booths of SAUs and the communities. Freshmen who were interested could directly register and join at that time.
New students were required to gather at Building B FCS UB at 6 a.m. Wearing dark training and white tops, they marched the pre-study program to do the briefing. After that, freshmen were accommodated by the committee to Samanta Krida Building UB.
On the other hand, the committee had gathered since 4 a.m. for a briefing and to equip the preparations. While the decoration of the building had been done since Saturday (10/26/2019) several committees were willing to spend the night on campus to prepare this event. This was done to ensure the event could take place without obstacles. (DT/MSH/PR FCS)
