Study Program of English Literature, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held again a Guest Lecture of Creative Writing with the theme ‘Poetry Writing’. The event took place on Saturday (11/7/2020) at 10.00 a.m through the Zoom platform. This guest lecture was presented by a writer and essayist named Tia Setiadi and was attended by approximately 40 participants consisting of lecturers and students of the Study Program of English Literature who took Creative Writing courses.
This Guest Lecture was divided into several sessions. The first session was a discussion of poets as a profession and sources of inspiration for making poetry by Tia Setiadi. The second session was a discussion of the importance of perspective, and about the stages of learning to write poetry. The last session was a discussion of four things to avoid in writing poetry.
The purpose of this Guest Lecture was to arouse the enthusiasm of students to start writing poetry properly and correctly. There were many suggestions given by Tia Setiadi to the students that can be applied in writing poetry. This guest lecture was closed with final remarks from Yusri Fajar, M.A., as a Creative Writing lecturer. [ASR/DTS/MSH/PR FCS]
