Welcoming the Freshmen ‘Wibisana’ FCS UB for Ethical Generation

Faculty of Cultural Studies Brawijaya University in the Academic Year of 2020/2021 received 1,064 out of a total of 14,582 freshmen for undergraduate level in UB. The FCS freshmen, who this year is called Wibisana, are divided into nine study programs namely English Literature, Japanese Literature, French Language and Literature, Chinese Literature, English Education, Japanese Language Education, Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Anthropology, and Fine Arts.

Online Academic Orientation activity this year was carried out on Monday (21/9/2020) while Online Student Orientation activities was held on Tuesday (22/9/2020) through the Zoom application. The freshman enthusiastically participated in the events. Students with disabilities were also able to participate in the events thanks to the provision of sign language interpreters, Ryan and Mutia, who are also students in the Fine Arts Study Program.

Siti Khusunul Khotimah, M.A., who is also a lecturer in the Study Program of French Language and Literature, thanked the freshmen on being a member of UB, which is the university with the most enthusiasm, in her remarks as Chair of the 2020 PKKMB Orientation Event.

“Use this opportunity well by maintaining the trust of parents, maintaining the good name of the alma mater, and taking the mandate seriously,” she said.

The Dean of FCS UB, Prof. Dr. Agus Suman, SE., DEA also emphasized the importance of ethics and academic achievement.

“Being graduates you cannot rely merely on GPA. You have to be a good person. We intent to educate students as an outright being, not only focusing on physical development,” he said.

The Educational Orientation event, which was hosted by Jamila Wijayanti, M.Pd, was then continued with the Dean hitting the Gong as a symbol of the opening of the event as well as the hope that the PKKMB Orientation series of activities would run well.

The introduction of the structural leaders and the head of the supporting units at FCS UB and the provision of academic materials delivered by the Vice Deans and the Heads of each Departments and Study Programs went well. The SIAM and SIUDA applications were also introduced by the Academic Education Staff, Djarot Sulistyo, A.Md., so that students can proactively access and use the application.
