Five Students of the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) won several rewards in the “2021 National Literature Competition” with the theme of post-pandemic optimism. The competition was being held online from 10 June to 13 September 2021.
There are four fields of competition in the event organized by the UB Student Affairs Section, poetry reading ( male and female poetry reading), poetry writing, short story writing, and literary essay writing.
The National Event was participated by students from various universities in Indonesia. In total, there were 41 participants from 30 universities for the men’s poetry reading category, 104 participants from 62 universities for the women’s poetry reading category, 433 poetry writing works from 127 universities. 176 works of short story writing from 80 universities and 89 literary essays from 38 universities.
“I was surprised, to be honest, I didn’t expect to get 1st place,” Said Aulia Nursafitri, a student of English Literature UB who won 1st place in short story writing.
“I check it twice to believe it,” she added.
According to Aulia, the competition positively impacted her because it provided an objective assessment that increased her confidence and helped her write her literary works.
FCS UB students who successfully brought awards in the “2021 National Literature Competition”, including 1st Winner in Short Story Writing by Aulia Nursafitri from the Study Program of English Literature (SPEL), 3rd Place in Poetry Writing by Daffa Nur Adli from Study Program of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (SPILLE), Men’s Poetry Reading (Judge’s Choice) by Muhammad Firyal Diazka from SPILLE, Poetry Writing (Judge’s Choice) by Elvin Nuril Firdaus from SPILLE, and Literary Essay Writing (Judge’s Choice) by Nur Sasya Dinata from SPEL.
